Nigel stammered, his ears flushing red, his composure entirely undone.

Two things shamed him in equal measure: first, the sudden and mortifying failure of his own body; second, the fact that it had happened in front of her—Leon's woman. The humiliation was absolute.

And because both of those things were consuming him entirely, he failed to notice something important: Kasha's expression was not surprised, or triumphant, or anything so simple. It was almost serene.
