MCT – CH 36

Clank, clank.

A huge, headless suit of armor walks through the corridor of the floor.

Each time the flickering torchlight swept across the surface of the black armor, a sinister atmosphere dripped from it.

Seeing it walking around inside the dungeon like this, the sense of pressure was truly no joke.

If the Dullahan became the first-floor master, it would suit her perfectly.

“You’ve come.”

“Sabira.”

“…Ragner. My beloved and bitterly resented dear friend.”

My worry that they might not recognize her was unfounded.

Ragner and Ruadis immediately recognized that the massive monster, with nothing visible but armor, was Sabira.

At last, the old childhood friends reunited at the first-floor gate. At the same time, the master and her two students gathered in one place.

A strange current flowed between the three as they looked at one another.

“Just a moment! As the manager of this dungeon, I have some matters to inform you of in advance.”

I barged in between the three without hesitation.

After all, this mess was one they had brought upon themselves. I no longer needed to be considerate.

They said they would even acknowledge conversations through clashing blades as ‘dialogue,’ so fine.

If they just opened up honestly about their feelings, misunderstandings would clear up quickly and everything could end well—why choose the hard path!

In any case, I had something more important on my end.

“From this moment, all of you have exclusive reservation of the entire first-floor gate area of this dungeon.”

When I signaled with my hand, the previously closed gates all swung wide open. Originally, they could only be opened by defeating our employees and obtaining the keys.

“While the reservation is in effect, normal business operations are impossible due to restricted entry for other adventurers. Therefore, in principle, we should charge separately for facility reservation fees plus losses incurred from business suspension, but…!”

“Anyway, we’re not even earning a single eon, are we?”

Brownie popped out and cut in.

“…….”

Was there anyone here who didn’t know that?

“Anyway! This time, I’ll apply the acquaintance discount and waive everything. Reservation fees, business losses—all of it. Isn’t that a good deal?”

I smiled brightly.

Of course, it didn’t particularly matter to me if they ran out of the dungeon right now and handled things outside.

But the three of them would find it inconvenient in many ways.

From Ragner and Ruadis’s perspective, they’d be worried the Dullahan might hide again the moment she went outside. They’d also be concerned about possible damage to the village if a fight broke out.

In that sense, the dungeon was the optimal place to finish things without any interference.

Blocking outside eyes? OK!

A facility originally meant for combat, so they can go wild as much as they want? OK!

Moreover, since the two believed the Dullahan was currently held in the dungeon, there was less worry about her suddenly running away.

Peace of mind? OK!

“However, before using the facility, please make sure to keep one precaution in mind.”

Still smiling, I added one more thing.

“Damage occurring during normal combat is fine, but if the facilities or equipment are destroyed due to excessive fighting, we will charge a separate restoration fee.”

This was important. Very important!

“Our dungeon is poor and cannot afford to cover large-scale repair costs on our own.”

Ruadis looked at me with an expression of genuine admiration.

“So please keep that in mind, and do try to go wild only to the extent that the facilities aren’t damaged. Both of you agree, yes?”

I didn’t bother waiting for an answer.

“That concludes the reservation announcement!”

In short, it was a request to fight or not as they pleased, but please don’t cause chaos as if they intended to demolish the dungeon.

Especially since Ragner seemed like someone who could actually do it, I was a little worried.

“Ah, now please don’t mind me and continue what you were doing!”

Having said everything I needed to say, I left the spot feeling somewhat refreshed.

The employees had already been evacuated to the basement.

I also quickly ran into my personal office.

‘If I loiter nearby for no reason, I might get caught up in it.’

From there, I could use the power of the sacred relic to monitor every corner of the dungeon as easily as CCTV.

Six blue screens floated above the desk.

The figures of the three, captured from different angles, appeared clearly on each screen.

‘As expected, I can’t view Ragner’s and Ruadis’s information.’

When Teon and his friend had challenged the dungeon, their levels and combat power had been displayed on the screen.

“At the current level, you can only see information on challengers below level 10. To see information beyond that, you’d need to enhance the sacred relic.”

Ragner’s and Ruadis’s information appeared as [???]. It meant their levels were far too high.

“Are they really going to fight? Ah, I should have bought some snacks.”

Besides the dungeon not being destroyed, if there was one more thing I hoped for, it was that Ragner wouldn’t damage the Dullahan too severely.

I had already marked her as our employee. As the first-floor boss, no less!

If she became unable to fight, it would be a disaster.

I moved my gaze to the desk.

There, the resume the Dullahan herself had written was placed.

“She’s surprisingly diligent. She filled in every single answer without missing anything.”

Dullahan.

No experience. No certifications.

Naturally. Sabira had presumably become a monster not long ago.

She was practically a fresh newcomer to society. How could someone like that accumulate experience?

She was too busy searching for her head to have time to study for certifications.

[Reason for applying: Because you said you’d find lost items.]

This was, of course, an expected reason.

But even so, for a resume, it was too blunt, wasn’t it?

She could have started with something like, ‘I was impressed by your company’s welfare benefits and strengthened my resolve to join….’

Dullahan, this is really a problem.

A resume like this—no place but our dungeon would accept it, so you’ll have to make it your lifelong workplace, won’t you?

But one line, added as if scribbling a doodle, stimulated my attention.

[And the dungeon manager resembles Boksil. Kind of cute. My type.]

That massive suit of armor personally moved a pen to write this…. It really didn’t suit her.

Come to think of it, her way of speaking also subtly didn’t match the heavy image of a Dullahan. Only her voice was good.

When you think of a Dullahan, you’d immediately expect a taciturn and grave personality, but the Sabira version of the Dullahan had a somewhat frivolous feel?

She must be heavily influenced by the original personality.

If so, wasn’t Sabira in life someone with a cheerful and cheeky personality?

The complete opposite of the calm and easygoing Ragner.

‘How did those two ever become friends? I don’t know how this will end now.’

Next was the cover letter.

“…Is this monster really unable to recover all her memories?”

What filled the spacious section was… a love letter disguised as a cover letter.

[Hi, Boksil? I’ve liked you from the moment I first saw you.
I wanted to confess the moment I entered the dungeon, but I was a fool with no courage back then….]

One thing was clear. The Dullahan might be diligent enough to fill out a resume, but she hadn’t taken it very seriously.

‘She must have been really bored after I locked her up and left, telling her to write a resume.’

The reason I could generously overlook this kind of joke was because I knew the Dullahan’s original self, Sabira, was a woman.

From the photo alone, I hadn’t been sure, but from her voice and the general build of the armor, I was certain.

At my former job, I had often met people who pulled this kind of prank, so it wasn’t even particularly unusual.

“Then is the only useful part the combat information section?”

That was the part where I could see a monster’s true specs.

Race type: Undead. Level… 40?

The current average level of our employees was below 10.

In that sense, the Dullahan’s initial level was considerably high.

Certainly, without a special connection, it would have been difficult for our dungeon to obtain an employee like this.

She wouldn’t have even submitted a resume in the first place.

For example, it was like sending out a recruitment notice and having an A-rank employee card come in with an extremely low probability.

Attack power 666, defense power 666.

“Unlucky numbers.”

Attribute: Earth. Specialties were….

I was slowly examining the skills the Dullahan possessed when a commotion broke out beyond the monitor.

Until just a moment ago, they had only been sharply confronting each other in silence, but now an argument had suddenly begun.

It felt a bit one-sided.

I set the resume aside for a moment and focused on the monitoring.

The initiative in the conversation was, as expected, being led by Ruadis.

As a true master, to gently untangle her students’ relationship….

“If you’re going to act like fools, then both of you pick up your swords right now!”

…That wasn’t it.

Ruadis seemed fully intent on just letting the two fight, exactly as she had declared to me.

Gong Choi wrote a résumé because she wanted to escape her black company. “Starting today, you shall become the general manager responsible for operating this dungeon.” “Is this a dream…?” She had been kidnapped and hired against her will as a subordinate of the Demon King! Before she knew it, she had been saddled with a dungeon on the verge of bankruptcy. A bottom-tier dungeon with no employees and no notoriety. The only applicants were low-level monsters like skeletons, goblins, and slimes! [Ever since I first gained self-awareness, I have been taught by Lord Necromancer, who emphasized diligence and instructed me to become a responsible monster……] “How is it that self-introduction letters are all the same even in a different world?” In an era of one million unemployed monsters who had given up looking for work. To return home, she had to somehow get the debt-ridden dungeon up and running and raise its notoriety. “I don’t expect to become a full-time employee. A contract position would be fine. Or even an internship….” “Hey! Do you think our dungeon is some place that picks up just anyone off the street and puts them to work!? Where do you get off trying to dump such a mediocre fellow on us?!” “Of course, I don’t need a salary. I’ll work for free.” “Gong Choi, let’s hear him out a little more first.” Starting from a penniless startup, Our Dungeon’s Journey to Becoming a Large Corporation Project.
