Monsters were beings from other worlds that had crossed over through Gates.
Since it was impossible to cross from Earth to the other side, knowledge about the worlds beyond the Gates was extremely limited.
However, it had been discovered long ago that monsters did not all come from a single, common world.
These monsters, filled with murderous intent toward humanity, came from countless different dimensions.
However, monsters were not the only beings that came from other worlds.
The ‘summons’ that Hunters with summoning abilities formed contracts with were also beings that had crossed over from other worlds.
There were countless different types of summons, but there was one clear difference between them and monsters.
They did not cross over through Gates. Instead, they manifested in this world through a Hunter’s mana as a medium.
