Chapter 61
Wow, this is really too powerful.
Each and every one of them is just incredible—there’s no other way to put it.
Aslan had already tossed his jacket somewhere, now clad only in his vest.
With two or three buttons of his shirt undone, he exuded a wild, beast-like aura.
Rolling up his sleeves to his elbows revealed his well-defined muscles rippling vividly.
It gave off the vibe of a hard-to-tame butler who’s only gentle with his young lady.
To sum it up, all three were competing with completely different charms.
And the fact that these actions were unconscious, not deliberate, made their impact even stronger.
The butler Adrian, with his smiling face that makes a lady’s heart flutter just by looking at him.
The innately kind-hearted Alferen, who acts gruff but does everything he’s asked.
And then the wild stallion of a butler Aslan, who seems like he’d be purely devoted only to his woman.
‘This isn’t some concept that just popped up out of nowhere. Naturally, it has to be the work of someone who knows those three very well.’
Today, Julia looked different somehow. She wasn’t the head of Genus for nothing.
Wasn’t she effortlessly manipulating that notoriously hard-to-control trio?
Realizing this was all Julia’s handiwork, I couldn’t help but tense up.
‘This is trouble.’
In this event, the booth that collected the most coins would receive a special gift along with an honor badge.
The club that earned this year’s honor badge would reap considerable benefits.
It was a prize that every participating club was aiming for.
When we’d been planning the event, we’d boldly declared that we’d take first place!
That’s when Sierra leaned in and whispered seriously in my ear.
“I think we picked the wrong spot after all.”
How are we supposed to beat that team?
Her eyes said it all at a glance.
I had to agree, at least to some extent.
“They say a crisis is just another opportunity in disguise.”
“This feels like nothing but a crisis, though.”
When Sierra responded pessimistically, I clicked my tongue in disapproval.
“You know one thing but miss the other two. Don’t you know the business rule that restaurants next to famous eateries see their sales rise too?”
“Ah!”
Sierra’s eyes lit up like a monk achieving enlightenment, and she clapped her hands.
“In that case, let’s give up on first place and aim for second.”
Once we’d quickly assessed the situation, things proceeded with astonishing smoothness.
* * *
The results were reasonably successful!
As expected, the line for the Genus Butler Cafe grew long, and many customers ended up visiting our booth right next to it.
“Our Momo hasn’t been eating at all lately. She used to eat everything I gave her just fine.”
“Come now, let’s hear what Momo has to say.”
With a spiel like a traveling salesman, Sierra cast her spell.
Woof woof!
After relaying Momo’s words, Sierra said brightly.
“She says even tasty food gets boring if you eat it every day!”
“Oh my, is that why!”
“She wants the jerky she had last time again. If you buy her that, she’ll eat well.”
“Oh, thank you!”
The young lady departed with a great revelation, off to buy Momo’s new treat.
As the coins steadily piled up, a broad smile spread across my face.
The ones casting the spells were Sierra, Glaster, and Edwin.
At least Sierra and Glaster’s side was all warm and friendly…
Crash-!
The customer in front of Edwin shuddered violently and bolted from her seat.
The chair toppled over in the aftermath, amplifying the commotion.
‘Again.’
I pressed my forehead, anticipating this familiar routine.
If there was one flaw in this strategy, it was Edwin, who acted like a lone wolf and never listened to anyone.
The lady, her face flushed crimson, shrieked.
“What did you just say?!”
As attention focused on them, the young lady hid her face with her bonnet.
Edwin, who had been propping his chin, replied indifferently.
“I told you already. It said it hates being around you because your farts smell awful.”
“N-No, that’s impossible! I don’t fart or anything like that!”
“Is there anyone who doesn’t fart? And according to this guy, you release toxic gas the moment you get home?”
His tone, a perfect example of the worst kind of half-polite speech, left the young lady trembling furiously.
Before long, her eyes welled up with tears, and she glared viciously at her pet cat.
“And whose fault is it that I have constipation! Do you know how hard dieting is?! You don’t even understand your mom’s feelings!”
“It says, do I have to know that? Instead of dragging me to annoying places like this, just give me another catnip.”
“You—you shameless—!”
Slap-!
Unable to endure it any longer, the young lady slapped Edwin’s cheek and fled in a torrent of tears.
I locked eyes with Edwin, whose head had snapped to the side, and let out a deep sigh.
“I told you over and over. Soften it up a bit when you relay it.”
This was, after all, an official event attended strictly by noble young ladies and gentlemen.
Some had brought their beloved pets out of genuine affection, while others were just here to pass the time.
Naturally, each animal’s assessment of its owner would vary.
Just in case, I’d instructed him to censor the animals’ words if needed.
Edwin leaned back against the chair discontentedly, dangling his legs in the air.
“This is softened. That cat has a foul mouth. Takes after its owner—quite the temper, huh?”
Those who’d already witnessed Edwin’s dreadful interpreting quietly shifted their lines over to Sierra and Glaster.
Seeing his line now empty, Edwin smirked.
“No customers?”
As if he’d been waiting for it, he stood up to leave.
Watching him, I could tell exactly why he kept causing these scenes.
I blocked Edwin’s path as he tried to depart.
“Where are you going?”
“I need a break. Listening to all these animals chirping is giving me a headache and making me hungry.”
Raising both hands in surrender, Edwin vanished in an instant.
When it came to escaping, he was faster than anyone—a real whirlwind.
‘Yeah. Maybe it’s better if he’s not here.’
There was hardly anyone who could control Edwin anyway.
He didn’t even call Sierra by her proper name, despite knowing her for so long—it was only natural.
‘At this rate, there won’t be any issues like in the original story.’
Later, Loti joined us, allowing me to step away from the register.
In the meantime, I was mixing lemonades for Sierra and Glaster, who were working tirelessly like one person doing the job of a hundred.
“Delly.”
With a low voice, Alferen peeked his head through the tent flap from outside and beckoned me.
I glanced around and slipped behind the tent, where Alferen suddenly pulled me into a tight embrace.
“Is it break time? The line looked insanely long earlier.”
“Yeah. Just a short rest and back at it. It’s exhausting.”
His face showed an unfamiliar fatigue, worn out from dealing with the fans.
Even though he was serving remotely with magic as usual, he kept getting called out by name.
As his large frame leaned against me, my body swayed involuntarily.
Alferen, acting spoiled?
This was truly a rare sight not everyone got to see.
It had already been oddly irritating watching him surrounded by all those young ladies.
But thinking that the moment his break started, he’d scampered right over to me made me feel good.
That’s when Alferen met my eyes and asked.
“Are you managing okay, Delly?”
“Yeah. I don’t have much to do anyway.”
My tasks were just lining up customers and tallying coins.
Even that, Loti had taken over since arriving late, so I had nothing to do at the moment.
Of course, dealing with customers wasn’t easy, and I’d been wanting a break myself.
But seeing Alferen, who’d been working even harder, my resolve softened.
I grabbed both of Alferen’s cheeks and asked.
“Are you really worn out? Slack off a bit. Or ditch it on Adrian and run away.”
From what I’d seen, Adrian seemed utterly immersed in the butler concept.
Watching my own brother charm all those women right beside me was pure torture.
“Honestly, Adrian could stand to suffer a little more.”
If Adrian heard, he’d probably whine, That’s too mean, Delly! But I said it casually anyway.
After staring intently at my face for a while, he finally spoke.
“Should I? Want to run away with me?”
