DH- Ch 81

Chapter 81. Have a Good Day Today Too

“Hut.”

Inside the bedroom, faintly lit by moonlight.

Creak, creak.

The cries of the bed, mixed with occasional faint moans, filled the bedroom.

Deborah lay beneath the man’s large body, being tossed about in a frenzy.

The heat was so intense it felt like her whole body would burn, and occasionally, she clawed fiercely at the man’s back, but neither Deborah nor the man, who was completely intoxicated with excitement, seemed to notice at all.

Her vision began to flash brightly as a result of the rapid and forceful thrusting inside.

It was the sensation that signaled the approaching end.

A moment later, the man, who had been moving without rest, stopped his movements with small convulsions.

Simultaneously, a low gasp erupted from both of them.

Finally, with a warm rush poured inside her convulsing body, the two reached a distant climax.

Thump.

The man’s heavy body immediately collapsed on top of her.

Although the sweaty bare skin might have felt uncomfortable, in this moment, Deborah was instead enveloped by an inexplicable sense of relief.

Thump, thump of his heartbeat, his rough breathing, his body that remained hot.

All the sensations vividly transmitted through their skin reaffirmed that this moment was a reality, not a dream.

“Haa… ha…”

“Haa…”

Clinging to each other like that, the two spent a long time calming the lingering excitement and heat.

This was an act repeated several times this very night.

The activity, which had started in the middle of the bed, had been so tumultuous and fierce that when she came to her senses, they had drifted all the way to the edge.

As a result, she was now truly in a state where she could barely lift a finger.

The drastic change in their relationship had occurred after the incident on the outdoor terrace.

Starting with Deborah knocking on his bedroom door when everyone was asleep, their secret time together began.

The man’s actions were tireless and continued endlessly until the late hours of the morning.

It only finally ended when Deborah had to utter the words that’s enough because the man would reach for her again soon after one round was over.

Now, too, as the man kissed her neck and touched various parts of her body, Deborah gently held his shoulder.

“…Stop now.”

Blue light was already seeping through the darkness visible outside the window.

If she allowed herself to be swept away by the man, who was naturally starting again like this, she might find herself facing the same precarious moment as last time.

Recalling the moment she barely slipped out of the bedroom right before Mr. Greg opened the door, Deborah spoke again, quite firmly.

Toward the man who still seemed unwilling to retreat.

“I really have to leave.”

In contrast to her resolute tone, which served as a reminder, her gaze directed at the man was immensely gentle.

Raymond stared intently into her eyes, then finally let out a long sigh and moved his body aside.

“Can’t we just tell them now?”

“…”

Deborah, who was getting up, flinched and froze at his words, which came out like a sigh.

He meant, couldn’t they reveal this relationship to the butler, Greg, if not to others?

Just as Mrs. Charlotte had already figured it out.

The man was always displeased with the situation where Deborah had to flee the bedroom as if she were escaping.

Of course, just as he said, Deborah knew well that those who assisted the Duke most closely would not speak carelessly about this relationship.

However, he seemed utterly unable to understand her personal desire not to disclose it.

And moments like this were when Deborah realized once again how vastly different their situations were.

She had eventually become involved in this relationship because she couldn’t stop herself, but Deborah always kept the worst-case scenario in mind.

The scenario where this relationship would end the moment he took a Marchioness or someone befitting his status as his bride.

That was why she didn’t want to reveal it if possible.

Of course, she didn’t know how long this veil of secrecy would work in this mansion with so many eyes and ears.

But honestly, she wanted to keep it secret from as many people as possible, for as long as she could.

Deborah gave a small smile toward the man looking up at her.

“I’m sorry…”

“…”

A veiled expression of refusal.

Raymond’s brow furrowed for a moment, even though he fully expected such an answer, as always.

But it was instantly smoothed out by the soft kiss that immediately followed.

Smack.

As their softly touching lips parted, the woman’s bright, smiling face made Raymond’s expression instantly become as warm as a spring day.

“Have a good day today too.”

The greeting she always offered before leaving the bedroom.

It was a moment when the woman, who was usually thought of as a frustrating bear, felt like a fox.

Raymond stared at her, then raised his upper body and returned the same kiss to the woman’s soft cheek as before.

“You too.”

Seeing her eyes gently crinkle at that simple reply, a bright smile formed on Raymond’s lips as well.

“No, are you planning on scrubbing that pot all day long?!”

A sudden, loud shout echoed.

The echoing sound that filled the kitchen made the shoulders of the busy people twitch momentarily.

But there was one strange thing.

Despite the situation being so sudden that it startled them, no one seemed to turn their gaze in the direction of the sound.

No, perhaps one or two peered over slightly.

But they, too, quickly lost interest, turning their heads back and focusing on their original tasks.

In any case, it was undoubtedly a very unusual sight—that no one paid any attention to the commotion happening in the same space.

As if it were a common occurrence, not worth dwelling on.

“Why on earth does Mrs. Charlotte send these useless things to my kitchen? Especially during a busy time like this.”

The man clicked his tongue, his thick lips twitching as he glared at the three people before him with displeased eyes.

Ludmilla, Molly, and one other person.

They were the three people Mrs. Charlotte had sent to the kitchen just recently.

The person hurling insults like “useless things” right into the faces of the three was none other than Elfengrin’s head chef, Bernard.

There was a good reason for his behavior.

Just like in any noble household, there was an unwritten rule that no one, regardless of the reason, could interfere with what happened inside the kitchen.

What more needed to be said when even the lady of the mansion couldn’t order the head chef around?

In conclusion, it was safe to say that Bernard’s authority in the kitchen was absolute.

Therefore, he was naturally displeased with Mrs. Charlotte’s actions in sending these three troublesome people without his permission.

He wished he could kick them out right now, but—

—It was the Duke’s instruction.

Even so, he could not ignore the mention of Duke Cheister’s instructions.

So he was desperately holding back his mounting anger, but these three were so slow in their movements.

They constantly got on his nerves, making it impossible for him to just stand by and watch.

Furthermore, he had heard every detail of the wicked deeds these three had committed, which made them look even worse in his eyes.

But what could be done?

For now, he had no choice but to endure it.

Bernard glared fiercely at the three huddled on the floor like mice.

“If you don’t finish the work I assigned you on time, don’t expect lunch today!”

With that sharp threat, Bernard finally turned and walked away.

The expressions of the three people left behind were utterly crumpled, like they had bitten into something sour.

This was something they couldn’t have imagined just a short while ago.

That they would be reduced to scrubbing dishes and cleaning floors and drains in the shabby corner of the kitchen.

“It’s all because of that orphan bitch…”

Ludmilla flung the sponge she was holding onto the floor, trembling with resentment.

The two people beside her merely exchanged nervous glances with each other, keeping an eye on Ludmilla.

They, too, were deeply ashamed and resentful of their sudden change in status, but not to the extent of Ludmilla.

Well, when one thought about it, it made sense.

Most maids couldn’t even look her directly in the eye in the past, but now she had become a scullery maid, the kind she despised the most, so it was only natural for her to be enraged.

Ah, and there was one more important thing.

Robin.

The man Ludmilla had been obsessed with for a long time.

It wasn’t incomprehensible that she was ranting like this, having heard that Robin, whom she had waited for so long, swallowing her pride, had confessed to Deborah, her despised rival, whom he had only known for a short time.

Moreover, since she had ended up in this state while trying to take her revenge, all that anger would naturally be focused on that target.

Ludmilla ground her teeth and chanted ominously.

“Just you wait… I will make sure I drive that bitch out of here no matter what. Absolutely.”

The look in her eyes as she said those words was so murderous that the two people watching beside her involuntarily swallowed hard.

Deborah Coleman, a housemaid of the lowest rank even among orphans, was cleaning the study alone for the spring season when she happened to encounter a man.   “A maid who doesn’t even recognize her master. How unusual.”   The man standing before her was none other than Raymond von Chester, the 8th Duke of Chester, the heir to an ancient noble house possessing wealth and honor beyond even a king’s authority.   In her untidy state, she left a poor first impression on him, and from that moment, an inexplicable tension began to develop between them.   ***   At a distance so close that she could hear his breath, their gazes became entangled in an instant. As tension constricted her chest, making her heart pound, his cold voice rang out.   It was unmistakably twisted, his tone laced with bitterness.   “At this point, I’m truly confused.”   “…”   “All these encounters, are they really just coincidences…”   “…”   “Or is this someone’s carefully crafted plan?”   The eerie chill in his voice made Deborah swallow dryly, her throat tightening in response.
