Maurice smiled broadly, his pale, pretty face bright with it. His eyes stayed cold as ice.
"Father Maurice!"
A moment later, three or four priests came running up behind him. The instant they recognized Leana, they fell into a defensive, ready-to-attack formation.
Right now, Leana was the Holy See's most-wanted fugitive.
What had happened in the prayer room had been thoroughly covered up, and the priests believed she had brutally murdered people and fled.
"Surprising. I'd guessed you'd slip out of Bluegale, but I didn't expect you to make it all the way to the palace."
"Turns out there are plenty of places that need my talents, once you're out of the Holy See."
Leana smiled right back at Maurice's grin, glaring into his cold eyes as she did.
"Now what. Looks like…
