“How is it that Victor has Diana’s letter……”

“I was on my way back from delivering the news of the marriage to the Russell family. On the way back, I happened to run into Miss Roxburg’s carriage and received this.”

Even Olivia, who had first looked at him with eyes full of suspicion, seemed to soften a little upon confirming the envelope bearing the Roxburg family’s seal.

“What am I to do. If I had known this would happen, I should have sent a letter long ago.”

“How did Miss Diana seem? Was she doing well?”

“Yes, well. She was a very spirited young lady.”
