The ones surrounding Sam and talking at him in threatening tones were Janice and Lebert.
"M-my lady."
Janice stumbled back a step. Judging by how thoroughly frightened she looked, she clearly knew exactly what she'd done wrong.
"Not a single word of contact!"
I flung the blanket aside and hurried over to Janice and Lebert. I stood in front of the two of them and planted my hands on my hips.
Janice and Lebert clasped their hands politely in front of themselves and blinked, watching my mood carefully. They even shot a glance at Sam, silently asking for help. But Sam, who knew exactly how worried I'd been about them, pretended not to notice their pleading looks and glanced off elsewhere instead.
"Whew. Janice. And Lebert."
I calmed the emotions churning in me like waves before a storm.
