“Who is it that’s actually betraying family and morals right now…?!”

She tried to argue back a moment too late, but John’s lawyer quickly called another relative to the witness stand. Three people appeared, and as if they had rehearsed it, all three said the same things.

They insisted that John’s family had not killed Arthur and his wife, that Harriet had done all this because she coveted her uncle’s title, and even brought up irrelevant claims such as Harriet having long been jealous of Bella. None of it had anything to do with the actual case.

Yet the judge did not stop their testimony.
