Chapter 33

"Is this the document Your Majesty was looking for?"

"It is. Just as it was ten years ago."

Then the emperor added,

"Burn it. Destroy it."

But Kenny's answer was unexpected.

"This document carries a protective spell. Only the one who cast it can release it enough to be burned."

"That person is dead. Is there no other way?"

"A mage of higher rank than the one who died could do it."

"You're saying I need to find a mage who outranks even you?"

"Forgive me, but yes. It is beyond my power to destroy this document."

Jan's face fell. Kalaim's war had claimed most of its mages, and the ones it hadn't killed had gone into hiding to avoid the same fate. Kenny himself had barely survived it, left with his burns and the loss of his eyes.

I need to get rid of this as soon as possible……
