While Ines undressed, having finally seen Cedric out, the tub filled with warm water. In the meantime, the maids had even sprinkled in a fragrant bath essence.
Soon Ines was helped into the tub by the maids. The exhaustion of that harrowing day melted away from her limbs.
"I'll attend the lady myself, so the rest of you may go."
"You yourself, Head Maid?"
"Yes. I'll call for you separately if I need help."
"Yes. Understood."
The head maid sent the others away for Ines's sake. She wanted to put at ease the heart of a girl who had circumstances she could not speak of.
At last, only Ines and the head maid remained in the bathroom, now empty of everyone else.
"Rest as long as you like. It will take some time for the physician to arrive."
"Mm."
"Does your leg hurt very much? We should apply…
