Chapter 33

It was an ominous howl. Though it rang out from quite far away, Jaelin and Nathan could hear it clearly.

It was not the ordinary cry of a common beast. It was a chilling shriek.

At the sound that stabbed down as if to tear through her ears, Jaelin clamped her hands over them. Her hair stood on end and her heart pounded as if it would burst.

Long ago, Jaelin had heard a sound similar to this. Though the kind was different, she knew all too well what kind of sound this was.

Her two hands covering her ears trembled violently.

"This is unsettling."

Nathan muttered with a stiffened expression.
