The Husband Who Should Have Died Returned

Synopsis

I was possessed as the male lead’s wicked stepmother.

Originally, my role was supposed to be this: the male lead’s husband would die while he was still young, and I would run away with all of the family’s fortune.

Eventually, I would be killed by the male lead, who had grown up suffering because of me.

Why should I have to go through that?

Since I was here anyway, I decided to become a kind stepmother.

And while I was at it, wouldn’t it be nice if I became a good wife to my husband, who was going to die soon?

“Why are you looking at me like that?”

“Eat more, Chares. This one is especially good for your eyes, and this one is high in protein, so it helps build muscle.”

They say that even a ghost who died after eating well looks good.

But after I treated him a little kindly, my husband began to misunderstand me in a strange way.

“Nothing will change just because you do this. There will be no child between us. And I will never love you.”

“Yes, I’m fine with that. I don’t expect you to.”

My husband looked at me with a peculiar expression.

That handsome man was going to die soon.

What a loss to humanity. An absolute loss.

In the end, I sent my husband off to the battlefield, and I fled with the son who was legally registered as mine.

This was the best thing I could do to protect the child.

I would raise him well and return him to his rightful place!

But three years later, the husband who should have died returned.

“I’m not too late, am I, Roana? You’ve really been through so much all this time. I truly… missed you.”

He looked at me with eyes filled with a romantic longing I had never expected.

“From now on, I will never leave your side. Not even in death.”
